We have no Affiliations or links to the OSMTH International, OSMTHU or the OSMTH Association, each of which are mainly run by low degree Freemasons who have not worked through their craft to attain the Masonic Degrees suitable for selection to membership of the The United Religious Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple and of St John of Jerusalem.

If you are a Freemason you should not join a non Masonic Order but aim for your higher degrees within your Craft.

We believe that Freemasons who wish to become Knight Templars should do so by joining their Recognized Templar Order by working their craft degrees and not joining the Non Masonic Orders. For this reason we will never affiliate to any Claimed Non Masonic Templar based Fraternity that accepts or is run by Freemasons.

The SKT-SMOTJ welcomes back the affiliation with the Portugese Order and the Scottish Knight Templars Soveriegn Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem.

 

The Grand Priory of St Anthony, Grand Priory of Scotland. The Grand Priory is based in the original area of the Templar lands of Leith. The Order of Scottish Knight Templars date from 1128 AD, founded at ballantradoch (now Temple) in Lothian by King David 1st of Scotland.   We do not follow claimed line of succession in the Charter of Larmenius as Scotland was and has continued as a Templar Order for many years and been independent of all self created Neo Templar Orders. Throughout history Scottish Templars have Autonomously elected their own Grand Master, which has continued since 1309 when no guilty charges were found against our Order in 1309. Now affiliated with the Grand priory of Portugal our present Elected Prince Regent (as per the SMOTJ 1705 Statutes) is P.R. H.H. Luis Roseira M.M. and our elected and re-affirmed Chef Mondial is H.S.E. C.M. Graham F Russell M.M. Our Regent The Earl-Mar in September 1745 stepped down and handed the title of Grand Master to Charles Edward Stewart in Holyrood palace Edinburgh. We are not Freemasons, Freemasons have their own Chivalric Templar Order and are independent from our Chivalric Military Order, if you wish more information on the Masonic Order you must contact them directly as we have no links nor Masonic members. Templar Facts not Fiction Supreme or Sovereign? Did you know that any Order that is called a Supreme Order, is wrong to translate Supremus from latin into the English word Sovereign. Supremus in latin is translated as Supreme (or above/higher) only, it cannot translate as Sovereign since sovereign is translated into latin as Imperium (Imperial).

Any of the Orders called Ordo Supremus Using the term Sovereign in the English translation of their name are wrong. The Sovereign Order is a seperate Order following it's line of succession through Anton Leuprecht who was Granted the right to set up Worldwide Autonomous Grand Priories of the  Ordre Souverain et Militaire du Temple de Jerusalem by the Prince Regent Vandenberg before his untimely death in the 1940's.

Did you know

That Anton Leuprecht Chef Mondial was the Grand Master of the SMOTJ, and at the same time Fernando Fontes was the Prince Regent of the OSMTH. Fernando Fontes according to the Statutes was to set up his council of Princes but never did. His intention was to have total dictorial control of the Order and assumed the title of Grand Master.

Did you know

That our Scottish Order were never under the control of the Ordo Supremus from Portugal, only allied to them for a short while, Our Grand Master was Anton Leuprecht. SMOTJ members in Scotland were granted dual membership of the SMOTJ and the OSMTH. Many of the original SMOTJ Grand Priories were mis informed and their members did not understand that SMOTJ is a seperate Order from the OSMTH.  All Orders today that are Supreme Orders are breakaway orders from the Portugese Regency Order Founded by the family Fontes.

Sovereign Ltd or Inc?

Any Order (other than ours) that claims to be Sovereign and registered as such, is purely through registering the name sovereign as a limited liabilty company in the U.K. or incorporated company in America.

Why we use OCMTH Now along with SMOTJ.

Due to the misuse of our Sovereign name by the OSMTH Created by Antonio Campello de Sousa Fontes in 1946, we were instructed under the Charter 2000 to use the name Military Order Knights of Christ Temple Jerusalem. As from 18th Septenber 2008 the newly elected prince regent of the OSMTH (Regency) has Started to clean up his Order and reverted to using the ancient name of SMOTJ as per the 1705 statutes as set up by our Sovereign Grand priory in Belgium. We do not however, have any links or affiliations to any other OSMTH Order.
